Welcome to Wheelchairs by Computer Press

Most of us, at least once in our lifetime, will experience being transported in a wheelchair, even if it's only around the corridors of a hospital; and most of us will also have helped in moving wheelchair bound friends and family. For some the experience of becoming a wheelchair user will be sudden, almost overnight, for other's it's a more gradual process and for some it has been the only experience of mobility they have known. Then there are those, like myself, who due to chronic illness are 'part-time' wheelchair users, I have Sjögren's Syndrome and some days I can walk - some days I can't!

So I speak from experience when I say that wheelchairs need to be fit for the purpose in hand, whether it's shopping, trekking or playing basketball; they also need to fit the user, be comfortable enough to spend the day in, tough enough to take the wear and tear of life and yet as light and flexible as possible. All that is a tall order and rarely will one chair, or one style of chair, meet all of those needs. Fortunately today we have the materials and technical design skills to produce wheelchairs that fit most of our needs. I have had the same fairly basic folding wheelchair we bought over twelve years ago, that has been flown all over the world and spends most of it's life in the back of the car. I'm quite short and my chair fits me well. So I do recommend that you decided exactly what will be the main function(s) of the chair before you make a decision and take note of the user's measurements and weight. Don't forget the accessories such as bags, rain cover, warm covers and gloves for self propelling. It's all here in our store, so happy browsing!

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly,
but the bumblebee doesn't know that
so it goes on flying anyway
